Suicide Prevention Month

(Suicide Prevention Month)

Don’t Wait for a Crisis: Talk to Us When You’re Just Not Feeling Like You

Let’s be honest: if you had a fever, a cough, and body aches that wouldn’t quit—you’d call us, right?

You wouldn’t wait until you were struggling to breathe or on the verge of being hospitalized to reach out. You’d act early, before a cold turned into pneumonia. Because you know catching things early matters. That’s how you stay healthy.

So let us ask you this:

Why should your mental health be any different?

Feeling “Off” Is Enough of a Reason to Reach Out

Here’s what we want you to know—loud and clear:You don’t need to be in crisis to ask for help.

You don’t need to be falling apart. You don’t need a diagnosis. You don’t need the “right words” or the “perfect time.”

If you’ve been feeling off—tired, unmotivated, anxious, disconnected, easily irritated, or just not yourself—that’s reason enough to talk to your provider.

Because your mental health matters here. It matters a lot.

Your Primary Care Provider Can Help With That

A lot of people think they need to wait until things get “bad enough” to talk about their mental health. Or they assume they need to find a specialist first. Or they don’t want to bother anyone with “just a funk.”

But the truth is:

We’re your first line of support.

We’re here for the small stuff and the big stuff.

Your primary care provider can:

  • Screen for anxiety, depression, and other concerns

  • Talk with you about what you're feeling (judgment-free)

  • Offer resources, referrals, or medications when appropriate

  • Help you figure out what next steps might look like—together

Whether you’ve struggled with your mental health before or this is new territory, we’ve got your back.

Talking About It Doesn't Mean Something Is "Wrong"

You don’t have to be broken.

You don’t have to hit rock bottom.

You don’t have to “snap out of it.”

You just have to show up. And we’ll take it from there.

Some of the most important health conversations we’ve had with patients over the years have started with one sentence:

“I don’t know, I’m just not feeling like myself.”

If that’s where you’re at, say it. We’ll listen. And we’ll help.

You Are Not Alone—And You Don’t Have to Wait

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and while we want to raise awareness around the serious side of mental health, we also want to normalize the small moments—the quiet red flags.

The stuff you carry silently.

The thoughts you push aside.

The things that feel like “no big deal.”

They matter.

You matter.

And we’re here for all of it.
